Gypsy Jazz Guitar
Robin Nolan is one of the world’s best known and most admired gypsy jazz guitarists and has been praised for his musical genius and creativity by Willie Nelson, Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman, and the late George Harrison.

Robin became one of George Harrison’s favorite guitarists and was his ‘secret weapon’ at many a party thrown at his English country estate Friar Park.

Legendary in the Django Reinhardt world, Robin has headlined every major gypsy jazz festival across the globe & Nolan’s music is taking gypsy jazz into the 21st Century beyond Django Reinhardt and incorporating influences of The Beatles, Ravi Shankar and AC/DC.

Robin Nolan is a favorite at jazz festivals around the world and brings his powerhouse swinging sound to more than twenty countries every year.

Born in Vietnam in 1968 to musical parents who were entertaining the US troops at the time, Robin was instantly immersed into the life of a working traveling musician. First taught by his father at the age of six in Hong Kong he began his musical journey. Back in 1992 Robin relocated from London to Amsterdam where he played on the Leidseplein gaining many new fans and admirers. It was here on the streets of Amsterdam where he was discovered and invited to festivals and concerts in Japan, USA, Iceland, Spain, Canada and even the house of George Harrison.

His new groundbreaking album ‘Sin City’ features gypsy jazz versions of 12 AC/DC classics. Robin cites Angus Young and Django Reinhardt as his favorite guitarists.

In addition to his busy schedule as a performer, Robin is also well known as a passionate instructor. Martin Taylor
Martin Taylor's Guitar Retreats are legendary! To date over 130 guitarists have attended a Martin Taylor Guitar Retreat. Here's what one recent retreat student said:

"I’ve had a wonderful experience. Playing at home I found that it’s hard to find other players that are interested in fingerstyle or jazz. When I came here I found many people with similar interests. Martin showed us different ways of approaching accompaniment improvisation and we were able to jam with other students, we were able to play with them as well. As much as I enjoyed my time here I can’t wait to go home and try all the new material that I’ve learned here.”
Robin Nolan

Robin Nolan's Guitar Retreats have built a loyal following since they first began two years ago. Today Robin runs retreats in Iceland and Amsterdam. Here's what one recent retreat student said:

“I’ve attended two of Robin’s retreats and honestly, I can’t think of a better guy to hang with, play with and learn from. Robin’s approach to learning with the group dynamic is to provide a learning environment where players are grouped according to experience and ability and then move forward.  His patience with relative beginners is exemplary."

"It was a fabulous experience. My impressions were that Martin and the teaching staff were very very gracious, very talented certainly, and really ensured that every master class session was run well, the content was perfect for the class, the students themselves really became very close friends and almost family atmosphere after the first night.  I know that I learned a lot, I had a lot of aha moments. I have a lot of things to work on but without a doubt the time spent this week was not only enjoyable, something I remember all my life, but absolutely will improve my playing and my confidence in playing".
-Ted Clark (New Jersey, USA)
“This was my first guitar retreat for Martin Taylor and it was an awesome experience. I learned so much and everyone is just so open and shares all this info and totally approachable. I also take the online classes, I just started a couple of months ago and coming to this retreat has just really fulfilled and filled out a lot of information that I had a lot of questions for. Highly recommended and check it out.”
- Lisa Liu (Brooklyn, USA)
“I had a fantastic time at Robin Nolan’s gypsy jazz guitar intensive workshop in Reykjavik, Iceland recently. This made all the difference in the world such that in our final night in our group concert, I felt I was playing “in the pocket” – even with my mistakes. What a feeling! Thank you Robin!”
Edward Mabanglo (Seattle, USA)
My wife told me to go or I would regret it for rest of my life. She was right; we both went and did not regret it for one second afterwards!  I learned to know and jam with other nice musicians from around the world. Last but not least, we also got to know Mr. Robin Nolan himself, a most gentle and nice person. He has this quality of being able to inspire and motivate on whatever level needed, - with a smile!"
Frank Antonsen (Norway)
